Waking Up to the Colosseum: Amazing View Colosseo, Our Favourite Stay in Rome

The short answer
Amazing View Colosseo is a quiet apartment on the Monti side of the Colosseum where the bedroom window, the living room and the balcony all look straight at the amphitheatre. It's the Rome stay we keep coming back to: a home rather than a hotel, with the best view we've ever woken up to.
Some places you visit once. This one, we keep coming back to. Amazing View Colosseo is, honestly, the best Airbnb of our lives: you open the curtains and the Colosseum is right there, close enough to count the arches.
We've been back to Rome more than once, and every time we check the dates against this apartment first. It isn't a hotel and it doesn't try to be. It's a quiet, beautifully kept home on the Monti side of the Colosseum, with a view that still stops us every single morning.

The view, from the moment you wake up
The listing says every room looks onto the Colosseum, and it's true. The bedroom window frames the arches like a painting, the living room has double windows onto the amphitheatre, and the balcony gives you the whole sweep of it between the cypress trees. Mornings are soft and gold, and at night the arches glow.
Our ritual never changes: two espressos, the balcony, and a few quiet minutes before the city wakes up and the tour groups arrive. It is the most Roman way we know to start a day.

The apartment itself
Inside it's calm, modern and very clean, with a pale palette that lets the view do the talking. The building has a lift, the apartment has air conditioning, Wi-Fi and a full kitchen, and the beds are the kind you sink into after a long day of walking on cobblestones. The hosts are Superhosts with years of experience, and it shows in the small things: quick replies, clear check-in, and help with anything you need.
A few practical notes from the listing: arrivals late in the evening carry a small extra fee, and Rome's city tax is paid on arrival, so plan your flight times with that in mind. The hosts can also arrange an airport transfer, an aperitivo basket, flowers or a cake, which is lovely if you're there for an anniversary.
Why it works so well for two
- You live inside the postcard. No queue, no ticket, no crowds. The Colosseum is simply your view.
- Everything is a walk away. The Roman Forum is a couple of minutes on foot, the Colosseo metro is around the corner, and Monti's wine bars and trattorias are right behind you.
- The tours start at your door. Our favourite Colosseum tour, the arena floor, met right by the Colosseum, so we finished our coffee and simply walked over. Here's how it compares to the underground.
- Evenings feel private. After dinner, a glass of wine at the window with the arches lit up is our favourite nightcap in Rome.

Right around the corner
A few of our favourite things nearby: an aperitivo facing the Colosseum at Royal Art Café, a walk through the Forum to the Arch of Titus, and sunset drinks over Trajan's Forum at Oro Bistrot, about fifteen minutes on foot. The rest of our Rome favourites are in Rome for two.
